Former Soo Greyhounds forward Jared McCann has been traded by the Vancouver Canucks.

McCann, who completed his first NHL season with the Canucks this spring, was dealt by the Canucks to the Florida Panthers for defenceman Erik Gudbranson and a draft pick on Wednesday evening.

The deal also sees the Canucks send a pair of draft picks to the Panthers. Florida receives Vancouver’s second and fourth round picks in the 2017 draft as part of the deal while the Canucks get a fifth round pick in the deal along with Gudbranson.

McCann finished the season with nine goals and 18 points in 69 games in his first full season with Vancouver after being selected in the first round of the 2014 draft.

Gudbranson has played in 309 NHL games, all with the Panthers. A former first round pick, third overall, the 24-year-old has 11 goals and 32 assists.

A restricted free agent going into the summer, Gudbranson recently signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract.
