Colts seal top spot in high school football

The Colts wrap up regular season play next week against Superior Heights

It was a battle that would help determine top spot in the senior high school football loop and the Korah Colts picked up its most important win of the season.

The Colts improved to 5-0 and clinched first place thanks to a 38-23 win over St. Mary’s Friday night at Superior Heights.

Tyler Brechin had another big day for the Colts, catching four passes for 88 yards. Brechin caught two touchdown passes for the Colts while also running the ball in for another.

In addition to a 15-yard touchdown run, Brechin caught touchdown passes of 12 and 25 yards.

Nik Gervasi ran for 113 yards on 12 carries for Korah, which included a touchdown run of 13 yards.

Noah Grasley also had a touchdown catch for Korah.

Korah quarterback Jordan Robinson-Wright threw for 218 yards in the win, completing 10 of 18 passes.

Defensively for the Colts, Aaron Keranen had four tackles and two assists.

Nick Pagnotta finished the day with 122 yards rushing on 14 carries and three touchdowns. Pagnotta has touchdown runs of five, six and 55 yards for the Knights.

Parker St. Onge had 53 yards rushing on 11 carries for St. Mary’s.

Defensively for the Knights, Hunter Mousseau had six tackles and four assists while Travis Johnson had five tackles.

In junior action on Friday night, Korah also clinched top spot thanks to a 35-0 win over St. Mary’s.

With White Pines folding at the senior level, St. Mary’s will not have a game next week as the Knights were scheduled to face the Wolverines on Thursday night.

Korah will wrap up regular season action on Friday night against Superior Heights (2-3) at Superior Heights. Kickoff for the senior game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
