It was a rematch of last year’s city final and the Korah Colts used an early touchdown to come out on top.

The Colts improved to 3-0 in senior high school football action on Thursday night thanks to an 8-0 win over the Superior Heights Steelhawks at Superior Heights.

Late in the opening quarter, Korah got on the board as Noah Grasley caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Robinson-Wright. A convert by Mateo Perri made it 7-0 Colts.

In the final minute of the contest, Tyler Brechin would punt the ball through the Superior Heights endzone with 35 seconds to go, making it 8-0 Korah.

The Steelhawks fall to 1-2 with the loss.

Nik Gervasi had 56 yards rushing on eight carries for Korah while Tristan O’Flynn ran the ball 11 times for 45 yards.

Korah’s Jacob Jurich had seven solo tackles and three assists while Aaron Keranen had five solo tackles and two assists.

Elijah Yandeau had 74 yards rushing on 15 carries for Superior Heights in addition to catching a pair of passes for 41 yards.

Defensively for Superior Heights, Zach Martin had eight tackles while Joe Rosso had six tackles.

In Thursday’s junior game, Michael Nicoletta had a pair of touchdowns as Korah beat Superior Heights 28-8. Tyrone Rice and Caleb Plastino also had touchdowns for the Colts.

Austin Schwarz-Montgomery kicked four converts for Korah.

Jesse Eaton had the lone major for Superior Heights while Kaiden Fisher had a two-point convert.

Friday’s action will see just a junior game as White Pines takes on St. Mary’s. The senior game has been forfeited by White Pines. After injuries during last week’s loss to the Steelhawks, injuries had limited the amount of healthy bodies the Wolverines had available for this week.

White Pines Coach Jonathan Bujold said Thursday, the decision to forfeit was made to be able to sustain “as much of the season as we can.”

He also said the hope is to be back in action next week against Korah.

Week four action begins on Sept. 27 when Superior Heights faces St. Mary’s (2-1). White Pines (0-3) will face Korah the following night. The junior games begin at 4:45 p.m. with the senior games following at 7:30 p.m. All games are at Superior Heights.
