Colts remain perfect in senior basketball

It was a perfect week for both the Korah Colts and St. Mary’s Knights in senior girls high school basketball.

The Colts moved to 5-0 thanks to a pair of victories this week, including a 62-22 win over White Pines on Thursday night.

Jaydn Pettenuzzo paced the Colts with 15 points in the win while Taylor Elliott had 14 in the win. Cecilia Holzwarth led White Pines with eight points.

Thursday’s other senior game saw St. Mary’s move to 4-1 after a narrow 34-32 win over Superior Heights.

Alyssa Rizzo and Mispon Martin had six points each for St. Mary’s. Annie Damignani had 12 points for the Steelhawks.

On Tuesday night, the Colts got 14 points from Pettenuzzo and 13 more from Elliot in a 62-28 win over Superior Heights. Emma Klooster had five points for the Steelhawks.

Emma Hendrie had 16 points for St. Mary’s in a 43-28 win over White Pines on Tuesday night. Rizzo chipped in with 11 points for St. Mary’s. Alex Dewar led White Pines with 10 points.

Thursday’s junior games saw Kora beat White Pines 48-24 on the strength of 15 points from Gracie Sloss. Madison Jackson had 12 points for White Pines.

Superior Heights beat St. Mary’s 44-36 in Thursday’s other junior game. Scoring details were not available.

In Tuesday’s junior action, Gracie Sloss had 13 points for Korah in a 43-33 win over Superior Heights. Brayden Lewis led Superior Heights with 12 points.

Madison Boucher had 15 points for St. Mary’s in a 32-19 win over White Pines in Tuesday’s other junior game. Madison Jackson had five points for White Pines.

Basketball action continues on Oct. 11 as St. Mary’s hosts Korah and Superior Heights hosts White Pines. Junior games top off at 5:15 p.m. with the senior games to follow at 7 p.m.
