A pair of second-quarter touchdowns and a strong defensive effort helped the Korah Colts to a week two victory in senior high school football action on Thursday.

Trailing 1-0 after surrendering a rouge in the opening quarter, Jordan Robinson-Wright and Alex Segin scored touchdowns while the Colts defence would not surrender another point in the contest as Korah picked up a 19-1 victory over the St. Mary’s Knights Thursday at Superior Heights.

“The defensive line is the strength of our team,” said Korah Coach Tom Annett. “We’ve got some elite talent there and some elite speed.”

“St. Mary’s had a hard time putting some drives together,” Annett also said. “They had a lot of third and longs. That makes it tough.”

Darian Belkosky finished the day with three tackles, three assisted tackles and three sacks for the Colts defensively while adding 35 yards rushing on four carries.

Graham Slater had four tackles and an assisted tackle as well for the Colts.

Aaron Grawbarger kicked a 32-yard field goal for the Colts while the team also picked up a safety to complete the scoring.

Segin caught a pair of passes for 115 yards receiving for Korah. Robinson-Wright completed three passes for 127 yards and also ran the ball for 33 yards on six carries.

Caleb Patteri ran the ball 16 times for 144 yards while Nik Gervasi had 90 yards rushing on 17 carries.

While pleased with the effort, the game wasn’t perfect for the Colts.

“There were some execution errors,” Annett said. “I think we left some points on the field in the red zone. There were a couple of turnovers in the red zone but that’s stuff we can clean up.”

Parker St. Onge ran the ball 10 times for St. Mary’s for 52 yards while Travis Johnson caught a pair of passes for 46 yards.

“We were better this week than we were last week,” said Knights Coach Jim Monico. “Belkosky killed us. He was in our backfield the whole game. We’ve got to figure out for the next time we play them, a better way to block him.”

The were some positives for the Knights, despite the loss.

“Our defence played well,” Monico said. “We gave up a couple of big plays but other than that, we held our own for a long time. All in all, we’re happy we’re getting better.”

Dexter Holden and Evan Sicoli had eight solo tackles and one assisted tackle each for St. Mary’s.

With the win, the Colts improve to 2-0 after a week one win over White Pines while St. Mary’s falls to 0-2.

In the junior game, Tristan O'Flynn had three touchdowns while Noah Grasley had a pair as Korah picked up a 38-17 win over St. Mary’s.

With the win, Korah improves to 2-0 while the Knights fall to 1-1.

High school football action continues on Friday as Superior Heights faces White Pines. Kickoff for the junior game is 4:45 with the senior game to follow at 7:30 p.m. Both games are at Superior Heights.
