Colts and Knights crowned boys basketball champions

Matt Kment had 14 points, including seven in the fourth quarter as the Korah Colts won the senior boys high school basketball title on Friday night. 

Thanks to a big fourth quarter, the Colts beat the St. Mary’s Knights 54-39 in the senior basketball final at Superior Heights.

Jordan Robinson-Wright hit four three-pointers and finished the night with 12 points for the Colts while Brennan Mitchell also had seven points in the final quarter for Korah and finished the day with 11 points. 

Gianni Viotto led St. Mary’s with 11 points while Cole Evans added 10 points.

Kment and Evans were also honoured as the pair would share the Most Valuable Player award at the senior level while Elijah Suffel of St. Mary's was named the MVP of the junior league. 

The senior all-star team included Mitchell and Liam Brescasin of Korah, Viotto of St. Mary's, Jackson Hart of Superior Heights and Bishop Whitmell of White Pines.

In Friday’s junior final, Suffel had 35 points, including 18 in the second half, as St. Mary’s beat Korah 52-46. 

Emery Hannah added seven points, all in the second half, for the Knights.

Michael Nicoletta had 12 points for the Colts.
