A pair of game sevens will determine the final two entries into the 2014 MasterCard Memorial Cup, which begins on May 16 in London, Ont.
In the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the Val-d’Or Foreurs forced a game seven with a 6-3 win on home ice on Sunday in game six against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. Pierre-Maxime Poudrier had two goals and an assists to pace the Foreurs offensively. Ryan Graves chipped in with a goal and two assists while Guillaume Gelinas had a goal and an assist. Randy Gazzola and Anthony Richard also scored in with win. Goaltender Antoine Bibeau stopped 43 shots.
Valentin Zykov, Alec Jon Banville and Alexandre Ranger scored for Baie-Comeau. Dominc Poulin set up a pair of goals.
Game seven is Tuesday night in Baie-Comeau.
In the Western League, Keegan Iverson scored at 7:23 of overtime to help the Portland Winterhawks force a game seven with a 6-5 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings in Edmonton. Derrick Pouliot had a goal and two assists for Portland. Mathew Dumba had a pair of goals while Kenoi Texeira and Anton Cederholm also scored.
Henrik Samuelsson had two goals and an assist for the Oil Kings in the loss. Edgars Kulda also had a pair of goals for Edmonton. Curtis Lazar had the other goal for the Oil Kings while Mitchell Moroz and Dysin Mayo assisted on two goals each.
Game seven is Monday night in Portland.
