Champs crowned in girl high school basketball (12 photos)

The champions have been crowned in girls high school basketball as the finals were held at Sault College on Saturday night. The junior final saw Korah face Superior Heights and come away with a narrow 35-33 win.
The champions have been crowned in girls high school basketball as the finals were held at Sault College on Saturday night.

The junior final saw Korah face Superior Heights and come away with a narrow 35-33 win. Averi Bondar had 17 points for Korah while Carina Hargis chipped in with 10 points in the win. Kira Hamilton had 14 points in the loss for Superior Heights while Maggie Kirk chipped in with 10 points.

Korah will represent Sault Ste. Marie in the NOSSA Triple A tournament, being held locally on Nov. 15 and 16. They will be joined by St. Mary’s and White Pines in the tournament. Superior Heights will now travel to Sudbury to play in the NOSSA Double A tournament while St. Basil will represent Sault Ste. Marie in the Single A NOSSA tournament in North Bay.

In the senior championship,St. Basil beat White Pines 37-33. St. Basil was paced offensively by Sarah Hammond’s 11 points. Tayler Bellini and Emilie Aloe added eight points each for St. Basil. Adrianne Bruni had 13 points for White Pines while Kietsten Olar had 10 points in the loss.

St. Basil will represent Sault Ste. Marie in the Triple A NOSSA tournament locally. White Pines will travel to North Bay for the Double A NOSSA tournament. Korah will also travel to the Double A NOSSA tournament at the senior level while St. Mary’s will represent Sault Ste. Marie as the host entry in the Triple A NOSSA tournament.
