Canada wins a single medal on Wednesday

Canada continues to add medals as the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi move along. On Wednesday, Canada added another silver medal as Denny Morrison finished second in the men’s 1000m speedskating event.

On Wednesday, Canada added another silver medal as Denny Morrison finished second in the men’s 1000m speedskating event.

The medal gives Canada four silver medals since the opening of the Olympics and was the lone medal won on Wednesday in six events that handed out medals.

  • Mark Mcmorris (bronze in men’s slopestyle on Feb. 8)
  • Justine Dufour-Lapointe (gold in women’s moguls on Feb. 8)
  • Chloe Dufour-Lapointe (silver in women’s moguls on Feb. 8)
  • Paige Lawrence and Rudi Swiegers (silver in the team free dance in figure skating on Feb. 9)
  • Charles Hamelin (gold in the mens 1500m short track speed skating event on Feb. 10)
  • Alex Bilodeau (gold in men’s moguls on Feb. 10)
  • Alex Kingsbury (silver in men’s moguls on Feb. 10)
  • Dara Howell (gold in women’s slopestyle on Feb. 11)
  • Kim Lamarre (bronze in women’s slopestyle on Feb. 11)

  1. Norway – 12 (four gold, three silver, five bronze)
  2. Canada – 10 (four gold, four silver, two bronze)
  3. Netherlands – 10 (four gold, two silver, four bronze)
  4. United States – 9 (three gold, one silver, five bronze)
  5. Russia – 9 (two gold, four silver, three bronze)

Note: countries ranked by total medals. Germany (six) and Switzerland (three) have also won multiple gold medals through six days of events
