Bulls parade over Greyhounds

The Belleville Bulls chased away the Soo Greyhounds with four third periods on Saturday night. Leading 2-1 heading into the period, the Greyhounds surrendered four unanswered goals to fall 5-2 to the Bulls in Ontario Hockey League action.

Matt Puntureri opened the scoring for the Greyhounds with his eighth goal of the season on the power play in the first period.

Andrew Brown tied the game for Belleville in the second period before Chris Lawrence scored his third of the season to put the Hounds ahead 2-1 after the second period.

The Bulls poured on the pressure in the third period and scored four goals in less than nine minutes to muzzle the Hounds.

John Adams scored at 10:14 of the period to tie the game before Mike Roelofsen scored 18 seconds later to give the Bulls a 3-2 lead. Roelofsen would later add an insurance marker before Mike Knight scored into an empty net.

Roelofsen added two assists while Marc Rancourt recorded three assists for the Bulls.

With the loss, the Greyhounds fall to 14-10-1-1 but remain two points ahead of the Plymouth Whalers and three ahead of the Sarnia Sting in the OHL's West Division.

The Hounds continue their road trip on Sunday in Ottawa against the 67's at 2 p.m. The Hounds will then visit the Sudbury Wolves on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Next home action for the Greyhounds is Friday when they host the Brampton Battalion at Memorial Gardens at 7:30 p.m.

In other OHL action on Saturday, Jesse Gimblett scored the overtime winner as Saginaw defeated Windsor 2-1. Anthony Stewart scored twice to lead Kingston past Ottawa 5-2, Adam Dennis stopped 40 shots as Guelph blanked Sarnia 3-0 while Chris Campoli's overtime power play goal led Erie past Plymouth 6-5.

Stefan Ruzicka's third goal of the night in overtime with one second remaining in the game lifted Owen Sound past Sudbury 5-4. Patrick Jarrett had a goal and two assists for Owen Sound.

B.J. Crombeen scored the game winner in the first period as Barrie edged Peterborough 3-2.
