Former Soo Greyhounds captain Bob Boughner is settling in to his new surroundings as the Carolina Hurricanes shipped the rugged defenseman to the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday in a National Hockey League trade.

As captain, Boughner was instrumental in the success of the Soo Greyhounds in the 1990-91 season when the upstart club defeated Eric Lindros and the Oshawa Generals for the Ontario Hockey League championship.

Boughner has since made the rounds through professional hockey but now finds himself in a glorious position to capture a Stanley Cup championship.

The Denver Post featured an article on Boughner's reaction to the deal on Monday, which can be read by clicking here.
