The race season is winding down at Laird Raceway and for Dustin Jackson and Jay Palumbo, the veteran drivers will head into the final weeks on a good note.

Both veteran drivers were behind the wheel of a pair of cars on Thursday and it was a good day for both drivers.

After qualifying third in the late model division, Jackson proceeded to sweep the division by winning the feature and both heat races.

Rob Hiiemaa, the fast qualifier in the division, finished seconds in the feature while Jay Palumbo took third.

Also running in the modified division, Jackson was the fast qualifier and picked up a heat race win, a second place finish in the other heat and took third in the modified feature.

Also running double-duty in a late model and a modified, Palumbo was the feature winner in the modifieds and also had a heat race win.

In the factory stock division, Jerry Ross was the quick qualifier and proceeded to win the feature.

Buddy Palahnuk won both heat races.

It was a good day for the Fewchuk family in the factory four division on Thursday night.

Brent Fewchuk, who posted the second quickest qualifying time, proceeded to win both heat races and the feature.

The victories weren’t without a push from his sister.

The fast qualifier in the division, Rebecca Fewchuk finished second in the feature as well as both heat races.

The Aug. 22 race night was originally scheduled to be the season championship but some bad weather early in the season led to some postponements.

The track will run a regular race program next Thursday in lieu of the season championship, which will be rescheduled.
