Baseball Notebook: Bantam and Midget Black Sox in action

The Elks 341 Bantam Black Sox and Cambrian Nissan Midget Black Sox were both in action over the weekend. The Bantam Black Sox hosted Milwaukee for four games locally while the Midget Sox were in Sudbury for a pair of games.

The Bantam Black Sox hosted Milwaukee for four games locally while the Midget Sox were in Sudbury for a pair of games.

The Bantam Sox won all four games against Milwaukee beginning with a 14-2 win on Thursday night. Joe MacLean, Dylan Sewell, Connor Henderson, Colton Read, Brandon Boyer and Tyren Dowding had singles in the weekend-opening win. Read picked up the win on the mound.

On Friday, the Black Sox picked up a 10-4 win. Read, Dowding, Henderson, Zach Duchesne, Jacob Bell and Todd Webb all had singles while Noah Pearce got the victory on the mound.

Saturday saw a pair of close games as the Black Sox won game one 10-8 before picking up a 5-4 win in game two of the double header.

In game one, Dowding had two doubles and two singles while Boyer had three singles.

In game two, Pearce had a single and a double as the Bantam Sox picked up an extra innings win. Sewell picked up the win by pitching three innings in relief and also had a single. Jarrod Sachro pitched five solid innings in the win.

The Bantam Sox are back in action on Thursday night in Sault, Mich. before a double header in Alpena on Saturday.

The Midget Black Sox split a double header in Sudbury on Saturday. In game one, Sudbury scored five runs in the second inning and six runs in the fourth inning en route to a 14-5 win. Coty Anderson and Adam Boullion had a pair of singles each in the loss. Boullion knocked in a pair of runs.

Ethan Jodouin had three hits and knocked in three runs in four plate appearances for Sudbury. Tyson Troschinski had two hits and knocked in a pair of runs.

In game two Brandon Dewar had a single and a double as the Midget Black Sox picked up an 11-7 win. Eric Thornton had a pair of singles and knocked in three runs while also scoring a pair of runs in the win.
