Bantam Hounds ready for semi-final match

The Soo Bantam Greyhounds have advanced into the semi-finals at the Ontario AAA Bantam Hockey Championships in Thunder Bay.

After finishing the round robin portion of the tournament on Thursday with a 7-5 win over the Markham Waxers, the Bantam Greyhounds secured third place in the standings with a 4-2 record.

The Hounds will now face the second place Toronto Jr. Canadiens on Friday at 5 p.m. with the winner advancing to Saturday's 3 p.m. championship game.

The first place Waxers will take on the London Jr. Knights in the other semi-final.

On Wednesday, the Greyhounds split a pair of games by shutting out the Ottawa Valley Titans 3-0 before being blanked by the Canadiens 3-0.

Tyler Liukkonen, Brett Perlini and Kyle Jean scored for the Hounds in their win over Ottawa while Greg McAllister stopped 22 shots for the shutout.
