Bantam Black Sox back in action this past weekend

They went one and three against the two-time Provincial Champion Sudbury Shamrocks at Sinclair Yards

This past weekend the Soo 14U Bantam Black Sox took on two-time Provincial Champion Sudbury Shamrocks in a four-game set at Sinclair Yards.

Game 1: Sudbury Shamrocks 23 - Soo Black Sox 4

Early errors led to a lopsided game one loss. Locals struggled out of the gates as the first six runs were all unearned. Andrew Conrad took the loss on the mound while adding a double offensively. Malcolm McGugan had two singles and an RBI.

Game 2: Sudbury Shamrocks 10 - Soo Black Sox 5

Game two saw the locals play a much more disciplined game. Keeping the game close in to the 5th inning. Malcolm McGugan took the loss while adding two singles with two RBI's offensively. Owen Allen and Carter Gallivan also added singles.

Game 3: Soo Black Sox 12 - Sudbury Shamrocks 9

Day two saw a much different team show up as the Black Sox knocked off the Shamrocks 12-9. After falling behind 5-0, the Soo managed to dirty up the base paths by scoring three in the 4th and four in the 5th to take the lead.

The 6th inning saw both offenses pick up as Sudbury scored four in the top to go up 9-7 only to have the Sox cash in five in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead.

Brett Davey picked up the win while Carter Gallivan got the save with a 1-2-3 7th inning. Gallivan added two singles while Adam Sylvestre had two RBI's and Colin Sirois, Avery Kalliomaa and Lucas Malcolm also had RBI's

Game 4: Sudbury Shamrocks 9 - Soo Black Sox 8

In the final game of the weekend, the Soo Black Sox jumped out early and controlled much of the game and were up 7-3 going into the 5th. Unfortunately the locals struggled in the 6th and let Sudbury tie the game up at 8. Sudbury scored one more in the top of 7th to get the one run victory.

Carter Gallivan took the loss despite having two singles and an RBI at the plate. Andrew Conrad had two singles, Landon Assiginack launched a double and Matthew Gagne had one single and two RBI's in the losing cause.

Next Action for the Soo Black Sox is this coming weekend with a two-game set in Sudbury vs Valley East Voyageurs.
