Artuso tearing up the track in Florida

Two-time Laird International Raceway Super Stock champion and 2001 Kinross Speedway Modified champion Jerry Artuso has been racing in Florida for most of the 2003 season.

Currently, Artuso is running in the FASCAR Goodyear Challenge Series that runs only in Florida. The cars are Limited Late Models, which run at the New Smyrna Speedway, Orlando Speedworld, Charlotte County Speedway and USA International Raceway.

One race is run each month from March to November, all at a 100 to 125-lap distance.

Going into the second-last race, Artuso had finished in the top ten in every race with four top fives including two second place finishes at USA International and Orlando Speedworld.

November 1st’s race at Charlotte County wasn’t that great, as he didn’t qualify well and finished seventh. Artuso now only leads by about ten points heading into the season finale November 15th at New Smyrna.

Artuso thinks he has a pretty good chance at New Smyrna but it will be tough as it is the second-place driver Rich Coluser's home track. His plan for the race depends on where he qualifies and he said that he has to be fast but also there at the end.

His plans for next year are undecided at this point but he does plan on again running in the Short Track Speedweeks at New Smyrna in February.
