The Great North Midget League season came to an end for the Soo Greyhounds on Sunday afternoon.

Needing a pair of weekend wins to extend its semifinal series with the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves, the Greyhounds forced a fourth game before being shut out on Sunday afternoon in a game that ended the season for the Greyhounds.

Alex Vendette posted the shutout while Matt Dokis Dupuis had a goal and two assists to pace the Wolves to a 4-0 victory over the Greyhounds. Jacob Burton added a goal and an assist for Sudbury. Hunter Chiblow and Parker Savard also scored for the visitors.

The Greyhounds forced Sunday’s fourth game by beating the Wolves 7-5 on Saturday night.

Camaryn Baber scored four times to pace the Greyhounds offensively. Parker Morgan, Dale Armstrong and Lucas Theriault also scored for the Greyhounds. Steven Bellini assisted on two Greyhounds goals.

Dokis Dupuis scored twice for the Wolves while Alex Rodrigue assisted on three goals. Glenn Therien added a goal and an assist for Sudbury. Savard and Ryan Fournier also scored.

The Wolves await the winner of the other GNML semifinal between the North Bay Trappers and Kapuskasing Flyers. That series is set to go to a fifth and deciding game, scheduled for Monday night in North Bay, after the Flyers blanked the Trappers 5-0 on Saturday in Kapuskasing.
