SOO GREYHOUNDS

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club is excited to announce that they will be participating in a neutral site, fundraising game in exactly one week’s time.

In co-ordination with the Town of Thessalon, the OHL club will be making an appearance at the Thessalon Memorial Community Arena on Monday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.

This unique full-game experience will be played against the T.I.P.P (Thessalon Independent Player’s & Parents Hockey) Tigers. The Tigers are a Thessalon-based Pee Wee Hockey Team.

“It’s a privilege to be able to showcase our players on and off the ice in a community like Thessalon. We receive so much support from around the Algoma region, that when we were asked to participate in this event there was no question how determined we were to make it a reality,” began Greyhounds Director of Public Relations and Hockey Administration Gerry Liscumb Jr.

“To play at the Thessalon Memorial Community Arena, and in front of the residents of a community that has deep ties to our organization will be a rewarding experience and we look forward to seeing everyone in the rink in one week,” he added.

The evening’s events will include a game between the two teams featuring three (3) x 10 minute periods followed by a shootout.

Other events organized for the evening include a ceremonial puck drop featuring Thessalon Mayor Jamie Orlando, intermission figure skating exhibition with F.S.C member Macy Lawrence among other activities.

Admission to the game will be $2 plus a non-perishable food item to support the Thessalon Food Bank. In addition a 50/50 draw will take place with a donation to be made to ARCH Hospice.

The Soo Greyhounds and Tips Hockey would like to thank AJ Bus Lines, Thessalon Community Events & Activities Committee and the Thessalon Figure Skating Club for their support.

“We are very excited to have this event happen in our small Community!  Our kids are very fortunate to have this positive experience be one they will remember!” said Kristen Lawrence, Manger of the T.I.P.P Tigers.
