Several equestrian competitors from Sault Ste. Marie participated at a recently held provincial event and one local girl stood particularly tall in her saddle. Tanya Feifel had a pair of first-place finishes and placed in all 13 events she participated in at the Trillium Hunter-Jumper Provincial Equestrian Championships, held just outside of Toronto in the tiny community of Palgrave. Feifel and the local competitors were among 350 Ontario competitors who qualified for the provincials. Feifel was the Ontario Jumper medal champion, placing first riding a horse named Carlo Feifel also placed first in the Junter Hunter Over Fences, riding Winning Desire. She also had second-place finishes in the A Equitation Over Fences and A Equitation Flat events, which are judged on the rider, rather than the horse.
