SUDBURY -- The second Northern Ontario Division race series of the season saw the Searchmont Ski Runners test their slalom skills in the Nickel City this past weekend.
18-year old racer/coach Kayvon Fatemizadeh once again showed he still has good form as he captured first overall Friday and Saturday. The Kinder-1 boys team led the way to the podium collecting six medals.
In Friday's race Matthew Horbatuk captured gold ahead of teammates George Payne and Josh Dugas. On Saturday, Graeme Hutchison led a Searchmont sweep with Dugas as runner up and Payne in third.
In girls K-1 Meaghan DiAngelo and Courtney Rains each captured silver and bronze medals. In the Kinder Two group Kylie Rains was the only member of the Searchmont team to reach the podium with a third place finish Friday. In the girls Mackenzie level Nicole Gignac won a pair of silver medals.
The next N.O.D. race series will be held February 14th and 15th in North Bay
