You've got until the end of the month to bid on the old Steelton Centre

If you buy it, you'll have the option of leasing parking spots

The seniors moved out in 2017 and now the city has put the former Steelton Seniors Centre up for sale.

The building was built in 1906 with a two-storey addition added in 1968. Total square footage of the multi-level facility is 8,413 square feet.

The following is a notice issued today by the city:

The City of Sault Ste. Marie proposes to sell the property located at 235 Wellington Street West, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, formerly known as the Steelton Centre.

Legal Description:  LT 209-212 BLK 5 PL 402 KORAH EXCEPT PL J6061; SAULT STE. MARIE

(PIN: 31572-0051 (LT))     

Approximate frontage: 227.60 feet         

Approximate depth: irregular

Note: The City will be severing and retaining a daylight triangle at the northwest corner of the subject property. (Further information on this may be obtained from Carl Rumiel in Engineering)

The sale of the Subject Property shall include an option to lease up to ten (10) parking spots located at the Parking Lot known municipally as 272 Wellington Street West Parking Lot, owned by the City, at a cost per parking spot as follows:

Sealed offers with a deposit of $1,000 will be accepted until noon on Jan. 31, 2020 at the City Clerk’s Office, Level Four, Civic Centre, 99 Foster Drive.
