Hey there, sidewalk superintendents!

The City of Sault Ste. Marie has released its 2020 work program for curbs and sidewalks.

This year, they're proposing to re-do 1,297 square metres of sidewalk, 647 linear metres of curb and 11 accessibility ramps.

That represents approximately 0.1 per cent of the Sault's curb inventory and 0.3 per cent of sidewalks maintained by the city.

"Typically each year, the program has been compiled from requests from councillors, residents and staff," says Susan Hamilton Beach, the city's director of public works.

"Budgetary constraints allow for a limited amount of work to be undertaken each year," Hamilton Beach said in a report to Mayor Provenzano and City Council.

"It is necessary to prioritize the requests and normally not all requests can be accommodated."

"It should also be noted that due to the pandemic this construction season, there may be a further impact to the planned concrete program."
