With the increased costs of tuition and post-secondary education, a few extra dollars could really help. Tell us about your money mistakes and you could win a grand prize of $5,000 to put towards your schooling.

As part of Credit Education Week Canada, Credit Counselling Services of Sault Ste. Marie and Credit Canada are calling on all Grade 12 graduating students to share your story. In all there are over 20 prizes ranging from $1,000 up to the $5,000 grand prize in this National essay contest.

Last year, a student from CASS was the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship!

If you are a student in Grade 12 and planning to head off to post-secondary education next year, all you need to do is write a funny, original, and well thought out 1,000 word essay addressing the dumbest thing you have ever done with your money and what you learned from it. It’s that simple.

The deadline for submission is Oct. 16, 2017.

Credit Education Week Canada runs from Nov. 6 to Nov. 10, 2017. This year, Credit Counselling Service, in partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library, will be hosting an information session at the Centennial Branch (main library) from 12-1 p.m. Nov. 6, light lunch and refreshments to be provided.

The presentation will discuss ways to maximize your income, minimize your debts, and tips for managing your money regardless of income. This presentation is completely free!
