Five charities selected by northerners will receive donations based on leaderboard of True North Adventure

Northern Credit Union is donating $3,000 distributed amongst the top five selected charities of Northern-inspired True North Adventure Game.

Reigning leaderboard champion, Rainbow Camp (Welcome Friend Association) from Thessalon, Ontario has maintained its title as the top selected charity of Northerners, and has taken command as the charity of choice by the top leaderboard champions.

In November, $2,200 (nearly 75 per cent of NCU donations) will be awarded to Rainbow Camp as a result of True North Adventure game play.

“A True North Adventure Game gives players a fun way to directly impact and give back to the community,” said NCU Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Channel Management, Tony Dunham. “Rainbow Camp is doing a great job of campaigning, and Northerners are playing hard to win for them.”

In second place, The Veterans Commemorative Monument from Sault Ste. Marie is gaining traction and moving up from last month’s third place standing on the leaderboard. This month, NCU will donate to the project designed to recognize individuals who have volunteered to serve with the Canadian Armed Forces.

We Are Not Alone (Learning Disabilities Association of Sudbury) has maintained its third place standing in the game, and will be receiving a donation to help youth with learning disabilities and their families.

In fourth place is the Coniston Food Bank, which will put the NCU donation towards purchasing food for needy individuals and families in the Coniston area.

PADDLE On! (PADDLE) from North Bay makes the top five leaderboard, and will receive funds to continue providing lifelong experiences to adults with developmental disabilities.

Players can make contributions or nominate good causes that are highlighted at truenorthstrong.ca, Northern Credit Union’s community support website.

Donations are made based on two separate leaderboards. A donation of $1,500 will be divided between charities selected by the top 10 players, and an additional $1,500 will be distributed amongst the top five charities based on the total points of all players.
