As we head down the homestretch of summer, we leave behind some impressive July rain stats. The Sault region counted around 150mm of rain this past month, the most since 1996.  It rained for more than half of the days of the month, with rain on eight of the last ten days.

It was interesting to note that all the wet weather didn't impact temperatures as the maximum and minimums this past month we bang on the 30-year average. The start of August doesn't look nearly as wet as July, but it does look to become a little warmer than normal.

Smoke and haze will continue to be an issue early this week until a colder air mass moves into the region later in the week. We will see a couple of chances of brief rainfall before the cooler air arrives. It's starting to look like the slight cooling off later this week may continue right into this coming long weekend.

Tuesday will become mostly sunny, with daytime highs near 27°C. Smoke from the fires out west will move into the region again to bring haze and air quality concerns. Any chance for showers in the afternoon is very minimal.

The heat keeps building into Wednesday, with temperatures climbing close to 30°C. The hazy skies and smoke will likely continue all day. The smokey skies may clear a little late Thursday, as temperatures close in on the 30°C mark again.

A few clouds and a chance of showers arrive on Friday to end the week as daytime highs fall a bit to 26°C. A peek into the weekend shows temperatures remaining a little bit above average, but with a chance of rain.
