Workweek Outlook: Weather rollercoaster for the week ahead

A very amplified weather pattern will be responsible for pushing these different weather regimes into the Sault region all week

The start of this week will see bitter cold winds bring windchill values near -10°C with rain and melting snow only a couple days later. A very amplified weather pattern will be responsible for pushing these different weather regimes into the Sault region all week. A large storm system posed to hit the Great Lakes on Friday could have a large impact on our weather for the end of this week.

A cold northwest wind will drop temperatures back down below freezing on Monday. There is a risk of flurries all day, but otherwise, skies will be mostly cloudy. Temperatures will be near -2°C during the day and drop below -10°C overnight.

Sunshine returns Tuesday with daytime highs near -1°C as the cold north flow reverses to the south. Clouds move back into the region by the late afternoon and evening.

Clouds and even warmer conditions arrive on Wednesday as temperatures climb above normal and up to 3°C. There is a risk for showers in the afternoon.

Thursday could be messy. Showers in the morning with warm temperatures will be followed by flurries as the weather pattern reverses to a colder airmass.

Friday's weather is still a bit of a wildcard as a large storm aims the Great Lakes. The current expectation is that this storm moves well south of the Sault and brings only light snow to the region. If this path adjusts north, then we could see heavy snow, and if it moves south, then we could see some sunshine and no snow. So stay tuned for updates through the week.
