The warm airmass that brought temperatures near 20C will do battle with a cold airmass pushing in from the west early this week

The warm airmass that brought temperatures near 20C will do battle with a cold airmass pushing in from the west early this week.  This will bring very heavy rainfall to parts of Northeastern Ontario Monday night into Tuesday with 50-100mm possible in 24 hours.   Cold air will then rush in for the middle of the week to bring the risk of a wet flurry and much colder than normal temperatures to end the week.

Early morning showers will taper off quickly and give way to clouds on Monday.  Daytime highs will stall out in the low teens with rain arriving late in the afternoon.  Significant rainfall is likely overnight into Tuesday with over 50mm possible.  Some isolated locations between the Sault and Sudbury could see almost 100mm.

Tuesday will be cooler with temperatures near 10C.  The rain and showers will be accompanied by gusty southeast winds.  The rain should come to an end by sunset.  Much colder arrives in the evening and overnight.

Wednesday will see much colder than normal temperatures with the chance of showers mixed with wet flurries.  Temperatures will fall to near freezing in the evening and overnight.

Thursday will remain cool and cloudy with rain arriving in the evening that will continue into Friday.  Daytime highs will be near 10C for the end of the week.
