A winter storm will end on Monday to only be replaced by snow squalls for the start of this week. Some locations will be shovelling through over 30cm of new snow by the time it ends. From Wednesday onward, we see a change in the weather pattern that will push the cold arctic air out of the Sault region and give way to calm weather and temperatures back above freezing. However, watch out for another storm to start this coming weekend.

The snow should briefly end Monday morning, but a cold front arrives around noon to bring strong northwest winds and snowsqualls in the afternoon and evening. Cold air returns on this windshift, with temperatures falling rapidly in the afternoon and gusts over 50km/h, bringing near-zero visibility on local highways. The snowsqualls later in the day and overnight will bring another 10-15cm of snow by Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will see winds weaken slightly, but frigid temperatures settle in, with daytime highs only reaching -7°C. Scattered snowsqualls are possibly in the morning but should end by the early afternoon.

Temperatures remain a few degrees below freezing on Wednesday under a mix of sun and cloud, with a slight chance of flurries later in the day.

Thursday and Friday will see daytime highs climb several degrees above freezing with cloud cover and a few isolated flurries. Watch for the risk of showers, freezing rain and then snow for later Friday night into Saturday.
