Workweek Outlook: Our first chance of snow arrives

Above freezing temperatures during the day and the warm surrounding Great Lakes will keep snow from staying

Cooler air has now taken a hold over Northern Ontario's weather, and it was just a matter of time before the cold temperatures lined up with an incoming storm system.

Both those elements come together later this week to bring our first chance at accumulating snow for this coming winter.

The good news is that above freezing temperatures during the day and the warm surrounding Great Lakes will keep it from staying.

Monday will bring scattered lake effect showers as a cold northwest wind blows off of Lake Superior. Temperatures will remain below seasonal values, and the brisk winds will make it feel only a couple degrees above freezing.

Tuesday will see some sunshine move into the region as the winds weaken. Temperatures will remain a couple of degrees below normal.

East winds begin to blow on Wednesday ahead of an incoming weather system. Clouds build through the day and then the risk of wet snow arrives after sunset.

By Thursday morning there is a risk of 2-4cm of wet snow on the ground. This snow should melt through the day as temperatures climb well above freezing.

Friday remains chilly with the risk of showers later in the day.
