Workweek Outlook: My weather machine is stuck on rain and cool

Slightly warmer weather arrives Tuesday, but clouds move in for the day

Friends, colleagues, family and even strangers in various stores around Sault Ste. Marie are approaching me almost daily about bringing them some warm weather.

Many ask "Can't you do something about this rain and cool weather?" The large contraption in my basement with a collection of dials and nobs that controls the weather (that my wife says takes up too much space and looks ugly on the wall) isn't working very well right now.

If it did, I would be dialing up the sunshine and heat by now, but sadly all I have to offer this week is more of the same.

Monday we will see a mix of sun and cloud with temperatures almost back to seasonal values. A gusty east wind will develop through the day to make it feel a little cooler. There is the very slight risk of a morning flurry, but let's not talk about that.

Slightly warmer weather arrives Tuesday, but clouds move in for the day. The gusty east winds continue, and then rain arrives around sunset.

Wednesday through to Thursday will see rainfall across the Sault region. Two-day precipitation totals could reach 20-35mm. There is a chance that warmer air pushes into the region on Thursday during the rain. (hopeful thinking?)

Friday will see cooler air move back in as morning clouds clear through the day.
