Workweek Outlook: Midweek storm brings heat and heavy rain

Combined with the heat will be plenty of rain that will help eat away at the ground's existing snowpack

We have to go back to the middle of this past November to find a storm system similar to the one moving into the Sault region this week.  Temperatures will climb above freezing on Tuesday and remain there until late Thursday.  Combined with the heat will be plenty of rain that will help eat away at the ground's existing snowpack. Isolated flooding will be a risk with all that meltwater and the frozen ground.

We should see some brief sun Monday morning before clouds arrive in the afternoon, and daytime highs climb to +5°C. There is a small risk of an isolated flurry in the morning and an isolated shower later in the afternoon.

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with a few sunny breaks as temperatures reach +5°C. A few showers move in by midnight and mark the arrival of an extensive storm system that brings heavier rain in the days ahead.

Wednesday could see an entire day of rain and daytime highs of +7°C. The rain should be heaviest in the afternoon and continue into Thursday morning, with a total accumulation of 15-20mm. The light rain and showers will change over to light snow on Thursday afternoon as colder air moves into the region.  Morning temperatures of +6°C in the morning will fall to the freezing mark by sunset.

A mix of sun and cloud arrives on Friday to end the week with daytime highs of +2°C, but a cool west wind will make it feel a little cooler. The more seasonal temperatures will continue into this coming weekend.
