Workweek Outlook: Extreme weather? Nope, not here

Just a week of typical June weather in northern Ontario

I flip through my phone and see snow a few days ago in Newfoundland, severe storms on the Prairies, and the threat of an early hurricane season in the Caribbean. So I sit down with anticipation and download the latest local weather information to see what new, exciting weather events are on the horizon for the Sault region. I find nothing. Just a week of typical June weather in northern Ontario. Sigh.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want to see lives at risk from tornados spinning down Trunk Road and tsunamis sinking my boat at Hilton Beach Marina. We do get our share of high-impact weather with powerful November Gales and blinding snow squall, but the week ahead looks pretty quiet. For folks working outside, people planning a backyard BBQ or a cold drink on the deck – I'm guessing that seasonal, sunny late-spring days will just hit the spot this week. For me, I'm off to find my copy of Twister, Day After Tomorrow, or Perfect Storm to get my weather nerd fix.

There will be some morning cloud cover and patchy fog on Monday, but the rest of today will be mostly sunny, with daytime highs near 21°C. Tuesday will almost be a carbon copy of Monday with some morning cloud followed by sun and temperatures near 21°C.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with daytime highs of 19°C, but then the warmest day of the week arrives on Thursday as daytime highs climb into the mid-20s under clear skies.

Friday brings the best chance for rain and storms this week, with temperatures falling back to seasonal weather. Enjoy your week of good ole June weather in northern Ontario.
