Workweek Outlook: Bring on the 'heat' and snow

Snow is likely every day this week
weather_weekday_outlook

The deep freeze that broke record low temperatures this past weekend will give way to an airmass that could raise temperatures up almost 25 degrees. At any other time of year that would certainly bring on a heat-wave but amid this extreme cold, it barely pushes us above seasonal temperatures.

With this warmer air, we will also see some moisture return to the region. Snow is likely every day this week that brings temperatures closer to freezing and by the end of the week we could have 25-35cm of more snow. The deep freeze returns for the end of the week and into this weekend as well.

Monday will be sunny with a few afternoon clouds and slightly warmer. Temperatures will start the day near -30°C and then should climb to near -12°C in the afternoon.

Seasonal temperatures will return to the region on Tuesday along with snow starting in the morning.  10-15cm of snow will accumulate through the day with daytime highs reaching -6°C.

Snow continues on Wednesday with another 8-12cm of accumulation and temperatures maxing out near -3°C.

Thursday will be cloudy with 2-5cm of light snow through the day.  Daytime highs should be near -6°C.

Friday should see snow taper off to a few flurries, but a cold north wind will bring frigid temperatures back into the Sault region. Overnight lows fall back well into the minus-twenties again.
