The week ahead will bring a little bit of snow, some strong gusty winds and even the chance of a mixed precipitation event at the end. So, all in all, it sounds like a typical week for November in the Sault. The highlights of the week will be the big winds on Tuesday that come with falling temperatures and then the risk of a storm system on Friday that could bring the type of weather that makes travel difficult.

So far this month the Sault has recorded 34cm of snow. Just seven more centimetres this week and we will already have reached our normal amount of snowfall for this month. With the blasts of cold air and warm, open waters of Lake Superior I think it's a safe bet we will have more than normal snow to start this winter season.

Snowsqualls end Monday morning as winds become more southerly and temperatures begin to rise. We should see some brief sunshine early Monday before clouds move back in later this afternoon. Daytime highs should climb a couple of degrees above freezing.

Gusty west winds arrive Tuesday, and this will cause temperatures to fall through the day. Bands of heavy snow will move across the region during the afternoon and evening. Westerly winds will blow over 30km/h with some gusts near 60km/h before weakening a bit and becoming more northerly in the evening.

Wednesday and Thursday may see a few flurries, cloudy skies and temperatures remaining near freezing.

The next active storm system arrives on Friday as a wintry mix could be on the way. There is a chance of freezing rain, rain and then snow from early Friday into early Saturday morning. Much colder air moves in for the upcoming weekend.
