It's not unusual for one or two cold fronts to cross the Sault region over any given week of the year. A sure sign that spring is settling in, and winter is behind us is when the cold fronts stop bringing frigid air and the risk of flurries; and instead delivers a band of showers and maybe thunder.

In the middle of this week, we will see one of those warm season cold fronts cross the region. A band of rain arrives Wednesday with only a slight dip in temperatures Thursday morning before seasonal temperatures and sunshine return for the end of the week.

Thank goodness; the May long weekend is in our sights and gardeners around the region will begin to wonder about our last frost for planting. This type of cold front is a step in the right direction - now we need some leaves on the trees to help retain that daytime heat overnight.

Skies will be mainly cloudy on Monday with the slight chance of an isolated shower in the afternoon as temperatures climb to near 16°C. Tuesday will be mostly sunny with some afternoon clouds as daytime highs reach 18°C.

That cold front brings early morning rain on Wednesday that will give way to sunshine later in the day with temperatures near 15°C.

A chance of showers arrives Thursday with daytime highs near 13°C. Morning lows could reach the freezing mark.

Friday will be mostly sunny with temperatures near 16°C. Right now it's too early to say with any confidence what the long weekend weather with be; possible outcomes still range from entirely sunny for rain and storms. I'll do my best to trend it towards the sunshine.
