Woman held down during Chestnut Street break-in

CITY POLICE NEWS RELEASE

******************** The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is investigating a break and enter that took place in the 100 block of Chestnut Street on Sunday June 19.

In the incident the victim reports that she heard someone knocking on her front door at approximately 1:45 a.m.

When she went to answer the knock the door was forced open and three males entered her residence.

The victim reports that she tried to flee but was grabbed and held down by two of the men.

The men demanded money and drugs from her.

As the victim was held down the third male ran upstairs to look for money.

A neighbour hearing the noise attended and frightened the suspects off.

The only description of the suspects is that they were Native Canadian and that the victim may know one of the males.

The suspects were last seen in the area of Chestnut Street. Anyone having any information about this incident is asked to call the Sault Ste Marie Police Detective Unit or Crime Stoppers.
