The PUC hasn't told us who to thank for this, but somebody clipped a guy wire while digging a ditch today.

The result was a broken insulator on an overhead 35-kilovolt line.

And electrical service knocked out this morning to about 4,400 addresses, most in the central part of the Sault along Great Northern Road, from Macdonald Avenue to Sixth Line.

The power outages started at 8:25 a.m.

PUC crews started reconnecting some addresses just 14 minutes later.

Everyone's lights were back on as of 10:05 a.m.
