OPP NEWS RELEASE

************************** Goulais River, Ont. - Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to Highway 17 in Goulais River early this morning after a passing truck driver had rocks thrown at his rig.

At about 1 o’clock this morning the truck was traveling southbound on Highway 17 in Goulais River.

The driver reported several youths deliberately threw rocks and other items at the truck as it passed by a residence.

In this circumstances they rocks did not damage the vehicle. Sault Ste Marie OPP would like to stress the possible dangers that these kinds of acts have the potential to create.

Rocks, and other debris, thrown at vehicles as they are traveling could go through any window and strike the vehicle operator.

The impact may also cause the driver to take an evasive action and end up crossing the centerline into the path of another vehicle.

Make sure you know exactly what the young people that you are in charge of are up to and where they are.

What may appear to a young person to be a roadside prank could quickly turn into a tragic live-ending incident.
