NEWS RELEASE

ALGOMA DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

*************************
The Algoma District School Board (ADSB), Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel- Ontario (CSCNO), Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB), and Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) have approved the School Year Calendar for 2014-2015.

For many years, the four school boards have worked together to produce a common calendar, facilitating the co-ordination of services such as student transportation.

Each board adopted the calendar following its own consultation process.

The calendar will now be submitted to the Ministry of Education for final approval.

Aside from first day of class and two Professional Activity dates, the 2014-2015 School Year Calendar will be the same for all English and French-language schools and all public and Catholic school boards in the Algoma and Sudbury Districts including Blind River, Chapleau, Dubreuilville, Elliot Lake, Espanola, Hornepayne, Manitoulin Island, Massey, the North Shore, Sault Ste. Marie, Spanish, Wawa and White River.

Except for minor changes, the calendar will also apply to CSCNO and CSPGNO schools in Greater Sudbury and Sudbury East.

The board of trustees of Rainbow District School Board and Sudbury Catholic District School Board approved the 2014-2015 School Year Calendar at a recent board meeting.

The 2014-2015 school year for all CSCNO, CSPGNO and HSCDSB students will begin on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, following Labour Day.

There will be no early dismissal.

Tuesday, September 2, 2014 will be a professional activity day for these three school boards.

The first day of school for ADSB students and staff will be Tuesday, September 2, 2014.

In addition to the first day of school, the School Year Calendar includes the dates for the Christmas Break, the March Break, statutory holidays, secondary school examination days and professional activity days in 2014-2015.
