What's open, what's closed this Thanksgiving Monday

A number of City of Sault Ste. Marie-operated offices and facilities will be closed on the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, including the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site, the Public Library, and the John Rhodes Community Centre.

There will be no regular Sault Transit service, but parabus service will be available.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie reminds residents of schedule changes for the Thanksgiving Day holiday on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022.

The following facilities and services are closed Monday, Oct. 10:
    •    Cemetery office
    •    City Landfill and Household Hazardous Waste Depot
    •    Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site
    •    GFL Memorial Gardens office and Box Office
    •    John Rhodes Community Centre arenas and pool
    •    McMeeken arena and the Northern Community Centre
    •    Public Libraries – James L. McIntyre Centennial and North Branch
    •    Public Works office. For 24-hour emergency service, call 705-759-5201
    •    Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre
    •    Sault Transit service will not operate. Main Transit office is closed
    •    Seniors Services – Bay Street Active Living Centre 55+ and the Northern Community Centre Active 55+

There is no garbage, leaf and yard waste or recycling pickup on Monday, Oct. 10. Collection will be one day late following the holiday.

    •    Leaf and yard waste is collected curbside on your scheduled garbage day bi-weekly. The landfill also collects leaf and yard waste in compostable paper bags (user fees apply). The final two weeks of leaf and yard waste collection are weather permitting (week of Nov. 18 collection A and week of Nov. 12 collection B).     •    The Household Hazardous Waste Depot will close for the season on Oct. 22, 2022.
    •    The Landfill will close on Saturdays for the season on Oct. 24, 2022.

Marina
    •    The Roberta Bondar Marina and Bellevue Marina are closed for the season

Transit
    •    There will be no regular Transit service. Parabus service will operate on Monday, Oct. 10. Call 705-942-1404 for bookings.
