You'll never find them in the same room together, but popular Sault College professor John Clement is about to join Polkaroo and countless others who've been profiled over the years in the pages of TVOntario Magazine.

Usually, Clement can be found following animals of a less mythical quality, as a Natural Resources instructor of 12 years who was practically born in a canoe.

He'll be profiled in the TVO magazine's January issue for his frequent use of the educational network;s programming in his classes.

Clement spent his childhood canoe tripping and camping in and around Algonquin Park.

He went on to become a professional wilderness guide and trip leader with Arctic Waterways on the Coppermine River in the Northwest Territories, before taking up teaching at Sault College.

Despite his status as an almost mythical instructor (the only faculty member to have received an Honorary Student Activity Council Award from the Sault College Administrative Council), Clement was surprised to hear from TVOntario Magazine.

"I really couldn't see how there was a story here," he said.

Clement will be profiled as part of an ongoing series of articles about people and groups who regularly view TVOntario programming.

"They wanted to know which shows I use in my classes and how they help," Clement explained.

Clement told them that he has incorporated the TVOntario shows Great Canadian Parks and Great Canadian Rivers into Sault College’s Parks and Outdoor Recreation Technician program.

"The two shows serve as virtual field trips for our Park Operations and Adventure Expeditions courses," he said.

The top bananas at the College are pleased to have their trophy professor featured in TVOntario Magazine as was aptly demonstrated when College President Tim Meyer crowed about it in his report at the last board meeting.

He said Clement frequently mentioned the college and positively portrayed the Natural Resources programs to TVOntario.

TVOntario Magazine is currently distributed to over 60,000 members of public broadcasting network TVOntario.
