Weekend Outlook: Well-timed rain splits the weekend

Rain may be timed that both days provide an opportunity to get outside without getting wet

Modern day meteorology is challenged by the increasing expectations of the general public. No longer is '50% chance of rain' acceptable. People now want to know at what time of day is it going to start raining and when it will end.

This coming weekend is a good example of how important timing can be for weather events.

From a simple perspective it appears its going to rain both days this weekend and be a washout; but if the timing works out the rain may be timed that both days provide an opportunity to get outside without getting wet.

Friday will bring a mix of sun and cloud with more clouds in the morning and more sun in the afternoon. Daytime highs will climb into the low 20s with a northwest breeze blowing all day.

Saturday will see clouds move in for the entire day. There is a chance of rain and showers but it should hold off until the evening hours for the city.

The rain is more likely to the east of the city several hours earlier. Daytime highs on Saturday will remain in the low 20s with winds swings around to the east.

Sunday brings gradual clearing with northwesterly winds returning. There is a chance of lingering showers in the morning hours but sun should return by the afternoon. Daytime highs will again be in the low 20s.

Gradual warming arrives early next week.
