Weekend Outlook: The precipitation streak stays alive

By Sunday our current streak will be extended to 18 consecutive days with rain or snow

Did you realize that every single day so far in November, except one (Nov. 8), the Sault region has recorded at least a trace of precipitation? With three days of rain and scattered flurries on the way, we look to continue that trend this weekend. By Sunday our current streak will be extended to 18 consecutive days with rain or snow.

What's even more interesting is that we are still below the monthly total average of precipitation for November.  As of Thursday night, we are still 2 mm shy of that benchmark, and we will eclipse that value on Friday.  Near normal precipitation amounts with so many wet days does demonstrate that most of our snow and rain has been in small increments each day.  If it weren't for the 39 mm of rain on Nov. 15, we would still be well below normal precipitation values this month.

On Friday morning we will see showers that will intensify into steady rain for the afternoon and evening.  A southerly breeze will push daytime highs up to near +8C.  The rain should come to an end around midnight with 5-10 mm of accumulation.

Saturday will be cloudy with scattered flurries on and off through the day. Temperatures will fall rapidly all day with the warmest values in the morning.  Northwest winds of 15 to 30 km/h will push the temperatures below freezing before nightfall.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy with a chance of scattered flurries as temperatures return to normal late November values just above freezing.

Quiet, inactive weather arrives next week as the mercury bounces back and forth across the freezing mark.
