Weekend Outlook: Rain-free for the first weekend of summer?

The challenge this weekend will be to keep the rain away

Thursday morning marked the official start of summer and the start of our days slowly getting shorter. Normal daytime highs for the end of June are typically in the low 20s. This weekend should not disappoint as temperatures should climb above that benchmark each day.

The challenge this weekend will be to keep the rain away. The days leading up to this weekend hinted at rain, and even the Environment Canada forecast holds on to a 60 per cent chance of showers on Sunday. I'm more inclined to think we might have a stray shower late Saturday and again early Sunday, but most locations should stay dry and enjoy periods of sun between the risk of rain.

Friday will be mostly sunny with a few clouds this evening. Temperatures climb to near 26°C with a southeasterly wind keeping temperatures near Hilton Beach and Bruce Mines a little cooler.

Saturday brings a mix of sun and cloud with temperatures in the mid-20s. There is the slight risk of a shower later in the day, more towards the east of the city and over the North Channel.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy with temperatures climbing to near 23°C. The best chance of a shower will be in the morning with most of the sunshine arriving in the afternoon and evening.

Next week starts out dry on Monday, but rain is likely for Tuesday.
