Weekend Outlook: Hurricane Dorian helps colder air into Northern Ontario

As the hurricane makes landfall in Nova Scotia, a high-pressure system will set up in western Ontario

The first week of September typically brings daytime highs near 20°C, but Hurricane Dorian will help cool things down. As the hurricane makes landfall in Nova Scotia, a high-pressure system will set up in western Ontario. Between these two systems, we will find an efficient flow of cold air from the north that will usher in colder than normal air into the region by the end of the weekend.

Scattered showers will come and go on Friday with a chance for some brief sun. Winds will be light and variable as daytime highs reach 18°C.

Saturday brings a mix of sun and cloud with a few isolated showers on and off through the day.  Gusty northwest winds will develop as temperatures hit 18°C in the afternoon.

Sunday morning should bring some sunshine, but some clouds move in during the afternoon. A northwesterly breeze brings that cooler air into the region as daytime highs struggle to reach 15°C.

The cooler than normal conditions continue into early next until Dorian completely exits the Canadian Maritimes.
