The fast-moving nature of the weather systems means that we won't see much accumulation, but we will see a mix of just about every type of precipitation

The current upper-level weather pattern that steers the surface weather features will bring us fast moving active weather this weekend.  This same pattern is aligned just right to keep temperatures several degrees above normal late February daytime highs of -3°C.  The fast-moving nature of the weather systems means that we won't see much accumulation, but we will see a mix of just about every type of precipitation.

About 4-8 cm of snow is expected Friday morning with the risk of some brief freezing drizzle by noon. Afternoon temperatures should climb to near +2°C with some drizzle and fog possible. Winds will be easterly in the morning and will veer to the west later in the afternoon.

Saturday will be partly cloudy for most of the day with more clouds moving in during the evening. High temperatures will be near 4°C with an easterly wind building late in the day. A mix of freezing rain, snow and maybe even a shower is possible overnight.

On Sunday we will see snow in the morning that should taper off by the afternoon. Southerly winds will become westerly through the day at 30 to 50 km/h, occasionally gusting over 65 km/h.

Quieter weather arrives early next week with temperatures remaining several degrees above freezing.
