Weekend Outlook: Enjoy the sun and heat before the cold core low returns

We can now enjoy a couple of summer-like days of weather to start the weekend

A weather feature called an 'upper-level cold-core low' is known for bringing extremely cold temperatures in the winter (the dreaded Polar Vortex) and long periods of damp, cloudy, cooler weather in the warmer months.

It may not surprise you to hear we just had a cold-core low cross the region this past week. With rain nine out of the last ten days and cooler weather, we can now enjoy a couple of summer-like days of weather to start the weekend.

The bad news is that another cold-core low is building over Manitoba early this weekend and will push into the Sault region by Sunday and remain in place for most of next week. This means that we may have to endure another three or four days of damp, wet weather starting on Sunday.

For Friday, we will finally see a day with more than just a glimpse of sun as daytime highs climb into the low 20s.

There is the risk of brief rain early Saturday morning but for the most part, tomorrow should bring lots of sunshine before clouds move in during the evening. Temperatures will again reach the low 20s.

Sunday will see rain with scattered storms all day that will knock daytime highs back into the teens. Sadly that rain continues well into next week as that cold-core low parks itself overhead.
