The last seven days have brought 62 cm of snow to the city, and the official start of winter is still over a month away. Our snow shovels and snow blowers should get a rest for the next couple days as a quieter weather pattern moves into the Sault region. Instead, we will have to contend with unseasonably cold temperatures. Daytime highs will fall below freezing for the weekend and beyond, which is well short of our normal daytime highs near 3°C for this time in November.
Mostly cloudy settled in on Friday with the chance of scattered flurries through the day. Temperatures will climb to near 2°C with gusty west winds developing in the afternoon.
Saturday will be mostly cloudy skies with a few flurries possible. Temperatures will only reach -3°C, and a northerly breeze will make it feel more like -10°C. Sunshine arrives for Sunday with daytime highs still below freezing, near -2°C.
Even colder air moves in early next week with daytime highs 10 degrees colder than normal.
