Weekend Outlook: A hint of spring

The recent cold snap will give way to sunshine and temperatures over five degrees warmer than normal

The official start of Spring may still be a month away, but this weekend will give us a bit of a tease.  The recent cold snap will give way to sunshine and temperatures over five degrees warmer than normal for the end of February. Enjoy it while it lasts, because another shot of cold air is less than a week away.

Warmer air and sunshine move into the region on Friday as temperatures climb up above the freezing mark to near +1°C with gusty southwesterly winds over 20km/h.

Saturday morning may start chilly with morning lows near -10°C, but the lack of wind and the mix of sun and cloud should allow daytime highs to reach +2°C.

Mostly sunny skies return for Sunday, and all that sunshine should help push daytime highs to near +5°C in the afternoon.

Watch for that cold air to return by the middle of next week.
