Washout closes Highway 17 (update: one lane open)

12:38 p.m. update:

WAWA — The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment is advising motorist that due to local heavy rainfall a section of Highway 17 approximately 15 kilometers North of Wawa has been washed out.  Highway 17 between Wawa and White River has been re-opened to one lane.  

Drivers are asked to remain cautious through that area as maintenance crews will be working to make the necessary road repairs.
